The Power of Your Philanthropic Resume

It sure seems like the world is getting more competitive. From college pedigrees to work experience, employers are looking for more and more ways to screen applicants so they can build a diverse and highly skilled workplace.

One way to set yourself apart from the crowd is to show that you are volunteering in Kansas City. Not only does this show your compassion and willingness to lend a hand, but it shows you are a vested member of our larger community.

Volunteering is also a great way to hone your skills and develop new ones. Even more important, it provides an opportunity for you to share your skills with others so that they can develop their own skill sets. Whether your skills are math, construction, finance, marketing or simply the ability to listen to others, they can be used to strengthen our community in so many ways.

Equally as important, volunteering in Kansas City helps you develop your leadership and team management skills. These are skills employers genuinely appreciate, and it is something that can’t be taught; it must be learned on the job.

When you volunteer, you have an opportunity to discover what it takes to lead, and the ways you can harness your team’s skills and experience as you direct them towards achieving their goals. The knowledge you’ll gain, and the experience you will acquire through volunteering will therefore serve as a foundation that you can build a career upon.

Volunteering in Kansas City is something you will never forget. Not only will it change your life and help you develop new skills, but it will change lives within our community.

That’s why we do what we do at the Love Fund for Children. We invite you to contact us to learn more about the ways you can get involved.

Get Your Employees Involved With It’s In The Bag

Nothing is as fulfilling and rewarding as combining charitable giving in Kansas City that benefits children and youth in need with a delicious meal and a fun auction.

If you are looking for ways for your Kansas City area business to make a difference, getting your employees involved, and bonding with your staff through a memorable charity event, The Love Fund for Children’s 11th annual Purse and Handbag Auction and Luncheon, “It’s in the Bag” is your best bet!

This is one of our most anticipated annual fundraisers, previously known as Lunch with an Old Bag, it will be held on Nov. 15 at Crown Center at Sheraton Kansas City Hotel.

This year’s It’s in the Bag! event will feature a delicious lunch and both silent and live auctions of new and gently used designer purses, totes and accessories, donated to the event by generous sponsors, including Silpada Designs, Garmin and Black & Veatch.

Treat your staff or clients by reserving a corporate table at the event, help the Love Fund for Children by becoming a sponsor, make a financial donation, or hold your own corporate fundraiser.

The Love Fund for Children also needs in-kind contributions; so please consider staging your own office handbag collection!  The Love Fund can provide you with posters, fliers and collection receptacles for your employee purse/handbag collection event.

Donation receipts will be provided, too. The seasonal transition from summer to autumn is an ideal time to collect gently-used stylish and designer handbags!

All the donations and proceeds from the various events held by the Love for Fund for Children benefit area children in need.

The Love Fund serves children throughout 37 counties, birth through age 18, by providing goods and services for their comfort, care and needs.

Items such as school supplies, medical equipment, clothing, shoes, glasses and personal hygiene products are provided through the charitable giving of individuals and businesses in the Kansas City area.
